Is it weatherwave or slushwave or mallsoft or late-nite lofi? I don’t know, but what I can tell you with confidence is that this is an excellent vaporwave album. Offshore Weather, by Dream Basement, delivers a listening experience that is both emotionally engaging and intellectually satisfying. Nothing too outrageous but nothing to banal, either. The rich tones and lush mix coalesce to deliver an immersive balance of elements to make it at once easy to listen to, but with enough mystery and detail to keep us fully engaged. So whether you’re looking for background music for your studies, or to listen intently in a transfixed state, this album has the goods.
